Job SummaryAs a Mechanical Design Manager with a mechanical bias, you will lead the design and development of innovative, energy-efficient mechanical systems for controlled environments, including cleanrooms.
Your role will involve overseeing the design process, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver bespoke solutions for clients in sectors such as biopharmaceuticals, EV/general battery, and semiconductor/microelectronics.
You will manage projects ranging from small-scale installations to large, complex facilities, with project values typically between £1 million and £5 million.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical design process for cleanroom and controlled environment projects, ensuring innovative and compliant solutions.
Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and develop bespoke designs that meet their needs.
Oversee the preparation of detailed design drawings, specifications, and documentation.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, architects, and project managers, to ensure seamless project delivery.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design engineers.
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to incorporate best practices into designs.
Skills & Experience RequiredProven experience as a Mechanical Design Manager or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably within the cleanroom or controlled environments sector.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, piping, and process systems.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to cleanroom design and construction.
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
